I bought a new gaming headset two days ago. It worked perfectly when i tested it out on my student laptop.
Turtle Beach Z22 Not Recognized
When i connected it to my stationary computer it wouldn't download the correct drivers, making my pc think that the z22 headset is an unknown 'usb composite device.'
I've tried the following to make things work:
- Restarted the computer.
- Uninstalled the 'USB composite device' drivers from Device manager, then making it reinstall by reconnecting the headset.
- Doing the same as above, but using just about any USB reciever on the pc (There's 8 of them).
- Doing the same as above! but this time around i've disconnected every other usb device, except for the z22 headset.
Tried to download the drivers from the internet, then making my computer download the drivers locally.
6. Tried to copy the drivers from my study computer (Where the headset works) to my stationary computer.
7. Tried reassembling the USB power supply/connection the motherboard.
I'm officially stumped reddit! The only advice i haven't tried is connecting it to a usb hub, and that's because when i'm going back to the same electronics store it'll be to give the headset back to get reimbursed, not to buy some willy-nilly usb hub.
If anyone is able to come up with a solution, i can promise you a beautiful copy of Bad Rats on steam (I bought ten copies during a sale, when they only cost ten cents. I don't have any other use for them.)
Thank you so much for trying to help me with this!

I have noticed a few posts of my general issue floating around around a year old without a real definitive answer. I have just installed windows 10 & everything is in order except my Turtle Beach Z22 headset. I get audio through the headset fine and upon plugging in the usb microphone the recording devices menu picks up my voice just fine.
As soon as I close out of the audio menu & reopen it the small bars to the side of the mic (that pick up audio level) are empty and it no longer picks up my voice or sounds through the mic & I recieve a pop up error that there is no microphone connected even though windows recognizes the mic, it simply no longer works. I have ran auto update on all the drivers involving the headset & it has informed me my drivers are all up to date. When running troubleshooting for sound problems one of the options is 'Speakers- 2 - Turtle Beach Z22 Chat. No jack information' it then suggests to turn off enhancements for the audio which I've done before prompting me to explore additional options because troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem.
Turtle Beach troubleshooting offers little to no help because as seen by this link http://support.turtlebeach.com/files/391/'Turtle Beach Headsets use generic Windows drivers that do not need to be downloaded and installed separately.'
My computer is a PowerSpec B648
Turtle Beach Z22 Driver
It uses the headphones jack and a USB as the microphone (does not use microphone jack)
Any assistance would be hugely appreciated I'm completely stuck & really don't want to have to buy another headset
